IPSWICH SPEDEWEEKEND 6th/7th July 1996
Twenty Five years ago the First World Final for the National Hot Rods was held at Ipswich with very different cars than today's. However, the spectacle of the biggest Small Oval event gets better every year. The 1996 Spedeweekend took a very different format under the control of Mark and Roy Eaton, the World Final was moved back to Sunday and Eight 10 minute timed qualifying sessions with 8 cars on the track at once, all being timed simultaneously was tried. Just one of these sessions is on this DVD, but all the National Hot races are here along with interviews with some of the drivers, a Ministox Past and Present Race featuring Barry Lee, Duffy Collard, Derek Fiske and many others. The World Final saw the top men dropping like flies and a bumper to bumper chase for many laps between 198 Andy Steward, who led until the last corner when 962 Ormond Christie finally went round the outside to win his 4th World Final thus equalling Barry Lee's Record. ALL the races from both days are here in a special TRIPLE DVD set containing the main programme and the add on Extra DVD.
